noticed the Live Well Omaha

and: Live Well Omaha (LiveWellOmaha) on Twitter

billboard signs all over omaha

in which Omaha, Nebraska is ranked 142nd out of 182 of America's healthiest cities

I knew Omaha has some lazy folks, but are we really that low on the list.

YIKES for Omaha

I admit I need to lose 20 pounds,

but are the folks in Omaha really that fat and lazy of a city to be considered the 142nd healthiest city in america?

I believe they could be right considering many Husker fans in Omaha I know and see in town seem to be overweight.

it is almost impossible to see a skinny person in omaha who wears Nebraska CornHuskers shirts

(and no, I am not implying being a Omahan who is a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan makes you fat and lazy

I love the CORNHUSKERS!! I'm probably a fairly average Omahan, but maybe not Cornhusker fan. I actaully do not own a SINGLE piece of Husker paraphenalia. I don't really like the way I look in red.

I've lost weight before, ate right, and exercised. But I find I'm a lot more happy when I eat, drink, and be merry....

I know I'm not a part of the contributing factor to that number. It's not tough to be not fat. I walk around in the typical Omaha day, typical Omaha places and see the majority of people are overweight. I would enjoy it if some of the people could kick their current "physiques" to the curb side. Some of them have health problems that make it harder to stay fit, and I understand that, but most of them have the ability to become healthy. It's just a choice they have to make. It's easy and enjoyable to let yourself go, it's hard and not always the most fun to get lookin' good. People have different ways of enjoying life. Overweight people and fit people enjoy life equally. Fit people enjoy being fit because it's easier on your emotions to be fit. Overweight people enjoy being overweight because it's easy, you can eat what you want, when you want, do what you want, when you want. People just decide which way they enjoy their lives.

I'm not overweight but I could probably stand to lose 5-10 pounds get back into shape. It's hard when you go from being an active college student and working all the time and sitting in a cube for 40 hours a week.

I really want to pick up a pair of those Vibram Five Finger shoes and try barefoot running. Maybe that will be my motivation.
