Love Omaha? Rave about it here.
Hate Omaha? Rant about it here.

We don't need 5 page long "Omaha wars" on completely unrelated threads.

Well, I think we need one on here too. Because there are so many Omaha debates in General US.

Better to isolate to one thread than to let it run rampant.

Well, I think he's a solid candidate in spite of his fairly short track record....

Oh. Wait.

Love the Omaha metro area. A few random reasons.
  • Great diversity in employers and industries.
  • Fantastic sense of volunteerism and giving back (both individuals and businesses).
  • Lots of nice building and urban redevelopment going on.
  • Generally nice people.
  • Overall low cost of living (higher taxes will be a debate, but put it into context of "overall" cost of living).
  • Things to do.
  • Fantastic symphony in a great concert hall.
  • Bemis Center is internationally known for its arts.
  • Great indie music scene that is also known internationally.
  • Independent film scene is starting to develop.
  • The College World Series for the next 25 years.
  • Nice parks systems and trail system for biking and walking (especially in some of the towns south of Omaha but still in the metro - I can go all throught the area on the trails).
  • All 4 weather seasons (assuming you like that variety).
  • Fantastic photography opportunities with the weather patterns - some of the coolest clouds/storms/sunsets in picture I have seen.
  • If you are a swimmer, the Olympic Swim Trials are being held in what a number of the contestants are saying is the best pool and arena they have ever been in - a great example of how the community comes together to support events.
  • Great medical community with probably not a better place in the nation to get some transplants.
  • Many higher public and private education opportunities (probably more per capita in the area than most other places in the nation).
  • More millionaires and billionares per capita

I like Omaha. I think it's a nice, family-friendly place.

I think it's boasted (and bashed) a little bit too often on here, but the same thing could be said for a number of cities.

ITA...the people that I've known over the years that lived there had nothing but love for it.
