Interesting. Not to derail the locality of this topic but I'm suprised Albany and Syracuse NY made it up that high in the list. That's good news since we are planning to move to the Albany area later this year.

It's too bad they didn't go into details about how each city ranked in each category though.

I agree with you 100%, I like your moderate honest approach to all the articles Rumblebelly, whether or not you agree with me is not what I am aiming for, its your honest opionion, the reason I posted this is because Omaha is consistantly at worst in the top 20% usually in the top 10% in every category, which yes proves I have an agenda, but it's a postive one at least

It's been a while since I've been to Omaha so I can't really comment on it. I remember a decent looking downtown surrounded by residential areas on rolling hills. I used to go to a lot of concerts at the Civic Center and spent a few nights in Bellvue. Went to the Haymarket once...that's about it.

The Haymarket is in Lincoln. Did you mean the Old Market?

The Haymarket and Old Market have the same feel just slightly different architecture.

The Haymarket and Old Market might serve their purpose for people staying in a hotel or Lincoln or Omaha for a night or two but overall its sort of like after a week maximum in either its like been there done that.

The Old Market and Haymarket feel like an old lacking imitation of a suburban lifestyle centre but with very people around. They dont have a neighborhoody, entertaining feel like alot of similar downtown entertainment districts in other cities do.

Personally, I find grocery shopping more interesting and entertaining then the Old Market and the Haymarket.

I prefer a suburban lifestyle center over the Haymarket or Old Market anyday.

Well for one I have been to both places and unlike MattDen I still enjoy going there. I find something new every trip and I go to a different cafe each time. Both places are just plain old Nebraska great.

I've been to the Haymarket in Lincoln a few times. It seems pretty nice, not quite like the Fort Collins square in regards to entertainment but similar. Just more "wharehousy" which I find really cool. After thinking about it, it reminds me more of the downtown area in Denver that's close to Union Station. Just smaller.

I have not been to the Fort Collins square. Where is it at so that when I go there to see my brother-in-law I can take my wife there.
