Hello, we are returning to Newport Beach for a family vacation, from NJ, and greatly looking forward to it. Our 13 year old son is a skateboarder (and snowboarder, but that's for another season!) and while he is excited to visit the spots and parks throughout the region, would likely be happier if he was with someone besides his mom and dad!

Wondering if anyone here would be interested in having our son meet up with a local kid or group of his age to skate with, or providing us with some guidance along these lines? He's a great kid, from a nice family, no trouble, just eager to have some fun with some other kids with similar interests while on a well -earned vacation. We are staying at the marriott Vacation Club, Newport Beach the last week of August. Greatly appreciate any responses...

it isn't exactly nearby, but the vans skate park in orange (near angel stadium) is an excellent controlled environment for skaters of all levels.

It’s a short drive from Newport Beach via the 73 S (exit at Aliso Creek Road in Aliso Viejo and drive down for about two miles), but Laguna Niguel has a 20,000 square foot skateboard park located on Alicia Parkway near Aliso Creek Road:

Your son would probably like Etnie's Skatepark in Lake Forest as well. Its the largest in the county at 40,000 square feet and consistently voted the best in the county.

Vans at the Block in Orange is a full skate park facility, and their company headquarters is in Cypress(if he's in to that type of thing)

Thanks to all for replies and advice. We've been to Vans, great set up, and toured the LA/ Santa Monica parks a few years back. The ones in OC you have all described are where we will focus. Keep the recomendations coming, and many thanks. Happy to reciprocate for anyone wishing to visit the Jersey Shore (the nice part, not the one in that show!).

No, as in Capo Beach, my home town. It's in South OC.
