Has anyone had experience in this area? Any comments positive or negative? Where to shop, etc. Good restaurants? What to look out for?
Where to go? Things to do?

Thank you!

Its just a section of Huntington Beach. Its basically like any other suburban area but the houses have boat docks instead of back yards. There's a lot of apartments and condos around there too but not right on the water. They just opened a Trader Joes near Warner and Algonquin recently.

Please drop the pretentious "u" in harbor. My mom lives in the harbor and it was a great place to grow up in the 80s-early 2000s. My parents bought their house off Davenport Island for just over $400K in 92. At the time, Huntington Beach schools were rated fairly high, it was close to my mom's van pool lot, and my dad loved the seclusion (no one drives around there unless they live there) and the cool ocean air.

Pros: Great air quality, low crime, low percentage of registered sex offenders, 30 minute drive to Long Beach and John Wayne airports, 40 min drive to downtown LA and LAX, close to free beach parking (Sunset Beach on Warner and PCH), harbor living with down to earth people, great area to run (Bolsa Chica Wetlands and beach), winter holidays are very festive in this neighborhood, and home prices extremely low relative to other waterfront communities.

Cons: While 10 minutes to the 405N/22fwys via Bolsa Chica St (great if you work north of HB), it takes about 20 minutes just to get to the 405S fwy on Magnolia and Warner (I had to drive past 14 traffic lights just to hit the freeway), morning 405S traffic is awful from Magnolia to the 73, evening traffic on 405N from Jamboree to Magnolia is pretty bad, the community was built on a wetland so there's a risk of liquifaction if a serious earthquake were to hit (most of OC will be in big trouble), high price of home relative to median income.

I'm an efficiency freak and I hated the commute to work when I live in Huntington Harbor and drove down to Newport Beach/Irvine (yes it's ironic that my long winded reply isn't the most efficient, but I'm not a concise writer). I'd love to move back to the harbor when I retire.

In response to place to shop, you're not terrible far to Fashion Island and South Coast Plaza. Bella Tera and Westminster Mall are very close. If your a healthy eater, Trader Joes just opened a year ago (you can literally crawl there from my mom's house), 2 Fresh n' Easy are close by, and Whole Foods will be opening at Bella Tera.

What kind of eats are you interested in? i.e Late night, healthy, causal dining, fine dining (I don't think they exist in suburbia), etc.

Nice area, lots of leased land so be careful if you're condo hunting
