Dude, it's not THE OC! lol

That being said, Newport Beach, Dana Point, Aliso Viejo and if you have LOTS of money, Laguna Beach or Corona Del Mar.

But, rent first - then buy.

Been many a time! I actually really like it.

As a single young professional I am just as qualified to answer that question as the upper middle aged folks from Fontana.

A lot of people on this board point the YP crowd into the totally wrong places because they perceive an area as having a lot to do (a couple of bars and restaurants) that appear to have a lot of young single people.

Aliso Viejo is not conducive to a single young professional's lifestyle in the general sense of the term. Of course there are people who don't want a lot of bars, clubs, more spacious surroundings, etc. then Aliso Viejo is perfect for that. AV has some stuff to do.

Compare that to Huntington Beach or Newport Beach, I think it's pretty easy to see the difference.

I'm a BIT more OC-qualified than just being some opinionated older fart living in Fontana.

I think where you'll be happiest in OC depends on your lifestyle and where you will be working. I grew up in Costa Mesa, Huntington harbor, and currently live in Santa Ana (I've been househunting in the Back Bay for a year now). There are a number of major hospitals in the Santa Ana/Orange area as well as Costa Mesa/Irvine.

What rubbish. You don't live here and you obviously don't know what you are talking about. NEWSFLASH: Young professionals predominate in Aliso.

You don't live in Manhattan or Chicago either, so "As a single young professional" I guess you feel you are qualified to answer questions about what it's like to live in those places as well? How about Spokane, Portland, Miami, Dallas...?

I don't think I've really commented on Manhattan other than to say it's pretty similar nightlife wise to Chicago/DC/Boston. I lived in Chicago for quite a while.

I have never been to Spokane or Portland. I visit Miami somewhat occasionally. Been to Dallas a few times, not much. Nor I would I assume that Spokane is a great place to live (perhaps maybe it is) for one my age.

23.8% of Aliso Viejo according to the Census is comprised of individuals heading their own household. Even assuming that all of them are young professionals, that is hardly predominating. I wouldn't expect any city really to be predominating in the young professional category, although I would argue that Santa Monica and West Hollywood come as close as you can get.

NEWSFLASH: Young professionals predominate in Aliso. I didn't say single young professionals. You still don't know what you are talking about.

YOU DO NOT LIVE HERE.

BTW, WTH is this supposed to mean?

"Aliso Viejo is not conducive to a single young professional's lifestyle in the general sense of the term."

Quote:
Generally the singles who are in their 20s grew up in the area, but never really grew up.
Also, why do you create or invent your own "facts?"

Please keep posting. Tis is a very amusing thread.

For the OP (who is now being ignored). Just check out different areas see what they are like. Do not buy until you have settled into who you like, what your priorities are and will be. There are people who would live nowhere else than a place like Aliso Viejo once they live there for a while. There are people who will find places like that to be mind numbing conformity and intolerably boring. No one can tell you which one you are, or where you fall in between.

Then there are people who think that anyone who does nto think jus tlike them are either idiots or fools or both. Be careful, there are huge clusters of such folk in OC. But there are lots of nice and even wonderful people in every single city in OC. There is undoubtedly a place that you will love unless you are an urban lifestyle type of person or a rural living type.
