Any nice places around OC (preferably beachfront) that can do a dinner on Valentine's day within $200/couple (preferably priced-fixed menu) and still taking reservations? I know many of these places book up solid but it's not my fault as it's someone I just started dating 5 weeks ago! Hopefully I can find something at this last minute that isn't some sort of cheap commercial restaurant...

Try the Hobbit. Not beachfront but a really neat and unique experience. Go light on the wine and you will stay inside $200. Very romantic place.

Orange Hill restaraunt and Orange County Mining COmpany. Both have fabulous views and fit your budget. Again not beach front, but if it is a clear day, you can see the water. The views are incredible. You may have to tip to get a window or patio table.

Newport Landing in Blaboa (newport beach) has a view of the bay from some tables. As does the resturuant int he Pavillion (tale of the whale I think).

We have always loved the atmosphere at he Chili Pepper. Not a fancy place, but a fun place and the food is very good.

That steakhouse out in Trabuco? Santiago? _______Canyon (I am sick and really out of it cannot think, somenoen will fill in the blank). Neat steak house with a tree in the middle of it (tree died though). Be certain that you wear a really gaudy tie (that you do not like too much). I think the place might be called Santiago Oaks, but I am uncertain (heavil medicated and no sleep)

Las Brisas or Hotel Laguna in Laguna beach, but not much chance of getting a reservation there this late.

I do nto know if it is still there, but the View on top of a mid rise tower in fashion island has an awesome view. I have only had drinks there. Not sure whether they serve food.

I nice romantic trip is to go out to Catalina Island. There is a very nice resturaunt right off of the boat dock ont he water. I cannto recall the neme. Make sure your sweetheart does nto get seasick and wear coats. The boat ride is COLD.

NO OC but close, Shanghai Reds in Marina Del Rey is a nice place ont he ater (again not sure if it is still there).

I think it's Trabuco Oaks, Coldjensens ... or at least it was.

I miss La Ferme.

Sometimes you get surprised. I have gotten in with only a few days notice.

It may not work for VD, but maybe the day after or the day before.

Or make reservations for next year.

Oops. Booked throguht Feb 22. Either a late VD or next eyar for that option.

Or call and beg.

Maybe they have a last minute cancellation waiting list - kind of like getting waitlisted on college admissions

How about the Beach House in Laguna? It is a converted house right on the sand. Beautiful view. I like it much better than the one in Dana Point. Also the Beachcomer in Crystal Cove is a converted house right on the beach.
