Hi, I've got a job at north HB and have a daughter starting 7th grade this fall. So I'm looking for information about schools/safe community/traffic info. I hope to live in a community with good school but not too long in commute. I'm from Arizona, and aware that traffic could be pretty bad in orange county.

I read that Irvine has the best middle school, but wondering if renting would get me into the school? My budget is ~$2000. And she do have couple extra classes that she takes after school, such as drawing and dancing. I wonder how much does it cost in CA?

Ah, I need to find a tmp place to live within the couple of weeks, and then I get couple months to search more

Thanks for all your input!

Look in HB. Dwyer middle school in downtown Huntington Beach is a good school.

My sister used to live off of bolsa chica in Huntington and warner... not sure if that is an option for you, but it was a quiet area and seemed pretty reasonably priced (i think she paid $1400 for a 2 bedroom townhouse/garage) and it was actually pretty close to the beach as well.

I live in that general area. Yes, you can find a decent townhouse, nice apartment in your price range with very good schools.

Irvine is too far too drive and there are too many good schools around you to do that.

Look at Huntington Beach, western Garden Grove, Cypress, Los Alamitos, and Seal Beach, as well as parts of Fountain Valley

Can someone also recommend good/beautiful (public) gardens around?

Garden Grove has a decent school district although some of the neighborhoods might not be as great. Try to live in the west portion.

Cypress, Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley are all good bets.. as long as they're within your budget and commute.

The Bolsa Chica Nature preserve is pretty cool, but not exactly beautiful. Shipley nature preserve near the library may work for you.

You can try the Sherman Library and Gardens (Welcome to Sherman Library & Gardens) there is an admission fee, but its pretty nice.

There are numerous places in Laguna Beach
