This forum really helps people fill in the gaps between facts/information that have already been researched; it provides things like personal experience to complement hard facts from internet databases. Open ended inquiries are difficult to provide specific answers for. Also the City-Data Terms of Service strongly suggests some initial homework or research be performed. With no specific information given to the forum, posters will often get useless generalizations in return or be told "what they want to hear".
If you could provide some more specifics, and maybe it is too early to do that, the forum could really help you out: price/rental range is a critical, location of employment is also really important due to commuting factors, (you mentioned you have kids), etc. For example, I literally researched for one year before I moved from California to Colorado. I did my homework.

Perhaps you could ask your fiance to help you fine tune your post as it seems you are posting for both of your interests.
