My wife has received a job promotion, her office is in Anaheim. I have been looking for jobs in the Orange County area, but unfortunately I have not had any luck. I have received a job offer, but the office is in Burbank.

Does any one have any suggestions for places we can live to make it easier for us to commute to work? We're looking for safe neighborhoods and we're both young professionals with no children. Cost can be somewhat flexible but we don't want to go all out.

The Belmont Shores/Naples area of Long Beach is nice and walkable. It would be maybe a 30 minute commute for her and an hour + for you but there is a Metrolink train that goes to LA so something to look into.

Seal Beach is a good option, Close to the 405, walkable, safe and relaxed.

Parts of Fullerton and Orange might be good for what you want. Both have downtown areas that might appeal to you. I would generally avoid Santa Ana.

Hopefully you can find a job closer than Burbank, preferably in OC. Good luck!

What's your occupation? Maybe somebody can suggest a company that's hiring closer to Anaheim?

Thanks for all the useful advice. I actually work in IT and have applied toa bunch of jobs in the OC but have not heard back from any of those companies. Most of my professional network seems to be in LA. I'm already used to a 1 hour commute so I'm OK with that.

We've been looking in Fullerton, Brea, Hacienda Heights, and Whittier. We figured we could signs short leases until we find something better.

Between Burbank and Anacrime?

You don't have many options, tbh.

Some parts of Downey and Whittier are nice. I can't say which parts--I'm not super familiar with the area--but I do know nice parts exist.

Well my wife's office is in Anaheim, I'm still waiting to iron out details with the Burbank position., I think we may want to look around the Orange County area. So even if I have to commute to Burbank, what's the best place in OC to live for me to make the commute easier?

As far north as you can, how long a commute is she willing to do. You have two ways into Burbank driving through Downtown LA, or the 405 . For any type of bearable commute for you , you have to live in LA instead of OC. You might want to live in DTLA until you find another job. The other option is she take the 91 into work and you take the 110 or 405, but still going to be over an hour in rush hour for you.
