Hi All,

We are moving to NJ from Huntington Beach, CA next month and we were wondering if anyone could give us a little advice on some companies that ship cars.

We have a had a few quotes so far but none we're happy with. We moved out here from the east coast a few years a go so we aren't shipping virgins, but would just like an updated view on the prices and reliability of some companies forum members may have used in the past.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Happy Boxing Day!

Did you try the company "Drive Your Own Car Inc"? I heard they are FREE, just pay for gas and food for yourself!

I am actually looking for real advice from normal people. You obviously have too much time on your hands, over Xmas too, lots of friends then? or did Mommy buy Billy a new iphone?

Anyway, I'm trying to ship a car. We're a family of four and driving 3,000 miles does not appeal, especially in winter. We are having our belongings shipped so why not the car?

If anyone has any real advice, I'm all ears.

I would highly recommend All American Trucking & Transport.. They are very reasonably priced and I have used them twice successfully. The first time I shipped my Lincoln from Orange County to Texas, then the second I shipped it from Texas back to OC. Not a scratch, dent, or problem either time. The second time they actually got my car out to OC in 24 hours! But the first time it took a week. So bank on 3-5 days. The drivers were courteous, very professional, and not creepy (which was important to me being a petite female.. I was a little nervous being around trucking people alone). They were wonderful though. They made an effort to get as close to my place as possible for a convenient pick up/drop off, and the girl I dealt with on the phone was lovely too. It was $948 and I think slightly less than that the first time. I shipped it by open carry but the price can go up or down depending on how you want it transported (I would recommend just getting a free online quote from them, they email it to you and there's no obligation). They ship cars for major companies like Disneyland and I think the FBI too, they also ship for a couple sports teams as well which was how I was recommended to them through a friend and her husband. I would totally use them again (although I plan on staying here for good.. so hopefully I don't have to )

I highly recommend golden key auto transport. we've moved cross country twice. 5 yrs ago from SoCal to North Carolina, then last year back to SoCal. first time the company paid for the move so I didn't worry about anything, but the second time we did it all. even the first time around they would only pay for 1 car to move so I thought it would be fun to do a cross country drive, I will never do that again!! I agree you should ship, by the time you pay for gas, food, hotel, etc, it evens out and you are not out the 4-5 days to drive it yourself. having said all that I did tons of research on movers and again, highly recommend golden key. most of the car transport companies out there are not actually transporting them, they are brokers that post your info on a trucking website to bid out your job. I've heard tons of horror stories about cars being held hostage until someone pays more or never being picked up at all. golden key is an actual transport company, they pick and deliver your car. last December we shipped a Honda accord and pilot from raleigh to Orange County, total cost was 2200. worth every penny in my opinion. yes some of the other car brokers said they could do it cheaper, but then there was no guarantee, they weren't actually shipping my car, they were just middle men. I wasn't going to risk our cars for a few hundred bucks. if your handling the move by yourself I highly recommend you check out the movingscam.com website, they'll tell you about the good and bad movers. good luck on your move!

Stokebloke - I'm also looking. Moving from SoCal to SC and have done a ton of research. I continue to hope there is something in between the lows and high prices that I can feel good about. So, how did it go with Montway? I continue to see companies that get great reviews in some places and awful reviews elsewhere. Thanks.
