Hi! I'm a single 21 year old female who goes to school in Michigan. I recently accepted a job offer in Orange, CA upon graduation. Lots of the younger people in the office say they live in HB. I don't want to be bored and move straight from college town to suburbia...but I also want to make sure I can live! I'm making $40K a year, and I wouldn't mind roommate(s).

Is HB a good place to live/do you think I can make it?

Thanks a lot, any suggestions would help!

$40k is sufficient to rent a 1 bedroom apartment or share a 2 bedroom with a rooommate. There's plenty to do.

Huntington Beach is a great place to live but I know a lot of the apartments are older and run down. I know a lot of 20-somethings that live in Newport also. I would try to find a few room mates so that you can afford to live in a nice apt.

Definitely plenty to do in HB for 20 somethings (or anywhere in OC for that matter).

Hope it's a nursing job they're in demand here. Who in what office is saying they live in HB? Are you not living here now?

40k with a roomate in a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom is feasible as long as your college loans or other debt aren't outrageous.
