Orange County is as safe as it gets. There is some violent crime per what you read in the news, but you'd be hard pressed to find it.

Ummm, not very many at all. There are currently 1,588 billionaires in the world and only 8 are from Mexico.

Not really, depends on the area. Anaheim, Santa Ana and Westminster have all climbed above the national average in violent crime rates and they all have very low safety index numbers. I live near Disneyland and seeing gang task force units and hearing police helicopters circling the area are just about a daily/nightly occurrence.

It is interesting that Irvine, Mission Viejo, and Murrieta are listed as 3 of the safest cities in the US yet your list doesn't show the same rankings.

I think that it really doesn't matter in the sense that all of the cities listed are very safe and their ranking can vary due to just a couple incidents.

It is not my list and I cannot link to the source due to the linking policy at Citydata. Google it. I listed the name before.

As for the metrics used, take it up with them.

As for "just a couple incidents", I am guessing that can depend on the crime. For example, we see some burglaries in Laguna Niguel. Does that make it dangerous here?

FWIW, and for entertainment purposes, here are some crimes in my area from Dana Point/Laguna Niguel Patch. It includes some LN guy who allegedly tried to strangle his 91 year old mother in Fullerton. THat's an attempted murder, right? We may have had an attempted murderer in our midst in LN. I wonder how that will impact our rating. Hmmm.

Or would that crime be attributed to Fullerton since it happened there?
