It depends upon your destination. If you have to travel roundtrip north and back, it can be costly at about $11-12.00/day, I think. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. Going south towards SD is much shorter and cheaper.

Aliso is right next to Laguna Beach (much, not all, of it separated by hills) and temperatures parallel those of Laguna Beach with the same average highs and lows. Of course, it gets hot here, but then again, it is usually hot throughout the whole region when that happens. LB is cooler on some days.

We get the AM marine layer, which I love for long walks with my dogs. We also get ocean breezes (Don't ask me how, but parts of the city are just 1 mile from the ocean).

Temps are lower in Dana Point, parts of Laguna Niguel, NB and HB.

We lived in Aliso Viejo and never once used the toll roads.

the toll road make access to AV easier, but you really don't need it.
