5 teens from Irvine.

"It was one of the worst I've seen in my nearly 30 years," Newport Beach Fire Department Cpt. Glenn White said.

I feel worse for the passengers. Choice of friends can determine someone's fate.

Not surprising given how people drive on that stretch of road even when sober in the day.

How sad. Probably just a car full of young people being stupid. Heartbreaking. I'm glad they didn't hit another car, but it's awful they all died.

From the LA Times:

Authorities on Tuesday identified the high school students as: Abdulrahman M. Alyahyan, a senior at Irvine’s University High School; Nozad Hamawendi, a junior at Irvine High School; Cecilia Zamora, a junior at Irvine High; and sisters Aurora and Robin Cabrera, a sophomore and a senior, respectively, at Irvine High School.

Horrific tragedy.
However, I have a hunch that given their choice of movies, they were probably street racing.. Clueless, spoiled rich kids trying to be "bad-ass".

Talk about judgemental. And you were never a teenager yourself, right?

I was hardly a "spoiled rich kid", yet I've done so many stupid things in a car when I was a teenager, I consider myself lucky to still be around.

Every year around this time across the country
rich or poor
A+ students or students that barely get through HS.

Its been going on as long as I can remember.
