Why some people are fleeing Southern California - The Orange County Register

A few reasons mentioned:
-Cost/affordability
-Can cash out
-Traffic
-QOL
-Forcing parents to vaccinate

And that's the great thing about USA. You can freely move about the country.

From that article, Bend, Boise, and Surprise, AZ do not want Californians.

The irony.

From that article, the Sen. Jeff Stone (ex, R-Temecula) R. Ph. vaccination bill is very unfortunate, trumping on the rights of Californians. Encinitins also don't like to vaccinate their kids (Encinitas).

Thousands of former Californians in Oregon. Most regret the move. They are not welcomed by locals who despise Californians. Most of all they can't tolerate the nasty weather. So Cal's weather is the best in the nation. Yes it's expensive. That means you have to be motivated and intelligent to survive. Lots of places are cheap. All for a reason. The road out of So Cal is a 1 way street. Once you leave, you'll likely never be able to afford coming back.

Definitely some truth here.

No matter where you go when you leave Southern California, it will never have a better climate. Nor will will it have such a diversity of fun and interesting activities within a 90-minute drive.

Having moved away myself, I will also echo the notion that California is friendlier to outsiders than anywhere else, simply because California is the land of outsiders. It is easy to fit right in and meet new people all "in the same boat" as you. Note I didn't say friendlier in general, just more open armed to outsiders.

Truer words have never been spoken. 80% of the people I know flat out want to move back in Ca but simply cannot afford to. Another 10% would come back if they could find high paying work. 10% flat out say F California.

It's pretty funny how everyone hates/despises Californians yet people from other states move here and everyone here just says cool man hope you like it.

If only silly, superstitious parents didn't have to be forced to vaccinate their kids.

There are a FEW people who cannot be vaccinated. A) They can still get a medical exemption; and B) they benefit by having everyone else vaccinated. Why should a kid with a compromised immune system who can't be vaccinated be killed by some selfish twit who believes vaccines are the work of the Devil or government mind-control shots?

One of the few things CA did right was to pass this bill and get rid of the ridiculous "personal choice" exemption. If you want your kids to bea disease factory, go live in the woods somewhere, away from everyone else.

I am one who did that, but I came back.

For as liberal as Oregon claims to be they don't like people from CA. Still very xenophobic up there. People are polite but not friendly, and once you mentioned CA(and Southern CA) you could get anything from an eye roll to a derogatory comment.

And Oregon isn't all that cheap either.

I also know several people who left CA(some for TX) and came back.

It's not so "one way" as you make it sound.
