It's unusually cool and rainy this Winter and I've honestly had about enough!
It's downright cold and we've had quite a few morning in the upper 30s and every weekend for the past month has been a wash out and it looks like more of the same is coming up...

When is Summer again?

Is it really that unusual or have we had several unusually dry and warm winters? Remember 1969 or 78 or 97? Since 2005 we've only had about three seasons of above normal rain.

This is actually the way it used to be in southern California, years ago. Get ready for some more rain.

Parts of Southern California haven't seen this much rain in decades. And more is on the way:

If they haven't lived in CA for that long, they don't know this.

The problem with our Southern California winter rainy season is that we have to sacrifice warmth to get rain. I wish we would get more rain in summer and fall in the form of brief, warm, thunderstorms preceeded and proceeded by sunshine so people can enjoy the outdoors, rain and warmth at the same time rather than having to sacrifice cold, soggy, all day overcast in order to get the water we badly need. That's why I prefer climates like Hawaii with warm year round along with the rain. Rain should not be synonymous with cold. That's why I liked the summer of 2015 so much: all the hills turned green from all that warm rain we got from Baja hurricane remnants and monsoons and those balmy nights and warm SST were just divine. With El Nino on the way, maybe we'll get a repeat of for summer of 2019 where we can play in the warm rain again?

I certainly hope not! Rain is all right in the winter, although I'm ready for things to dry out a little. But rain in the SUMMER? Heat, humidity, monsoons and mosquitoes? There are already plenty of locations in the US where you can "enjoy" that climate; I don't want it in California. No thanks!

I think it’s freaking awesome. It’s nice to have a season. I just split a bunch of wood and I ordered a new 95cc chainsaw. Can’t wait.

Hopefully it will help with California water levels around the state.

I hope there will be more similar rain seasons in future years, had enough drought.
