Oakley sunglasses are literally founded in orange county. I think a lot of people who aren't hicks wear them...

Not only in Orange County, but in Lake Forest itself. If pricey Oakley sunglasses are considered hick, I for one was not aware of it.

Oakley is literally the coolest building in Orange County. It is road trip worthy and has a great retail store in it.

Lake Forest from most perspectives is look at like a downgrade from Irvine for the locals, schools are also less desirable. You can see it in the real estate prices. Go to Irvine or the Mission Viejo side and people are willing to pay a premium to not be in Lake Forest. You can even see this trend just across the street, one side is Lake Forest and the other side i say Mission Viejo and the homes go for a decent amount more outside the Lake Forest neighborhoods.

Irvine and Lake Forest look so similar that I often don’t even notice that I’m in a different town. However, I do notice that Irvine has more shopping, fancy car dealerships, and overall just a more bourgeois vibe. Lake Forest seems more low key and more like a typical middle class suburb, though you still need to make at least 6 figures to live a middle class lifestyle. Funny enough, one of my bestest friends in high school lived with her mum in Irvine and with her dad in Lake Forest, so I got to experience both. My dad also worked in Irvine for many years.

Lake Forest was formerly known as El Toro. It was not considered desirable. It has improved since that time but remains less desirable.

I remember when "Lake Forest" was just an offramp. Then, a developer built 3500 houses off that one offramp. Then, it became a City.

I liked it better when it was farms...

Then you should have bought the farms and kept them as farms.

Which neighborhood is nice in lake forest? I got the impression that lake forest is very industrial, closer to old polution site... Maybe I was looking at it all wrong.
