I started hearing the sound of water turning on (like refilling something) for 10 seconds or so and then shutting off in my water lines, even though we have not consumed any water. The sound comes on every 30 minutes or so and I could feel that the water was coming into the house when I laid my hand on the incoming line to the house. There is no toilet leaking. No water is running. The sound comes from around the water heater area of the house. I checked the water heater and there are no leaks around it. No other issues. I am afraid there is a leak in the hot water line somewhere because why would water turns on to refill when we have not used any. Put my ears to the walls and can't hear anything.

Edit-Oops, just noticed this is a month old.

Have you timed and checked your water meter when all faucets are off? The water dept website will likely have some pointers how to find a leak or at least rule things out. Old pipes tend to get leaks, hopefully thats not your situation.
