We miss the NW and the culture etc., and are going to visit Corvallis and the festival this year.
Being of Scandinavia heritage thought this would be fun..

Grew up in the area. Have gone probably 9-10 times.

They cordon off a fairly large section of 'downtown' Junction City (not directly off highway 99, but a good 15 or 16 block section). 3 or 4 stages are put up with periodic Scandinavian dancing and shows, and there's really just a whole pile of things to do-demonstrations of Scandinavian crafts, history, etc.) There ARE a lot of vendors whose connection to Scandinavia is...tenuous, at best, but oh well. Just like a county fair in that way.

I hear a lot of folks bemoan 'oh, it's not as good as when I was young!'. Yes it is. They were just the type of people who walked up hill to school both ways in driving snowstorms with poison potatoes for lunch.

It's kind of a fun time. I wouldn't make a special trip just for it, but combine it with something else in Oregon and you'd have a pretty good trip.

Glad they're still doing it...used to go about every year in the late '60s, early '70s...of course any info I'd have on it would be just a tad outdated...last time I went was early '90s. Always good food, I doubt that's changed!
