Even though Dudley has a slim lead in the actual count, the Oregonian has called the race for Kitzhaber based on a mathematical projection model. So it looks like yet another third non-consecutive term for a West Coast governor.

If the Oregonian is correct, it will not surprise me that Kitzhaber's won. I woud've been very surprised if anyone else'd won. Do you know what the percentage of voter turnout was, offhand? I'll look it up in a while.

I think they should just have a free-throw contest to decide the election...Kitzhaber might actually have a decent chance of winning.

Around 71%, which is very good for a midterm election.

OK, I'll ask.....

What about a recount in an Oregon election?
Happen often? and what is the ground rules for a recount?

In past places I have lived, it seemed that if the count was closer than 1% of ;the total votes cast, someone would request a recount. Last I looked at the web version of the Oregonian's story, the margin was some where around less than 10K out of 1500K votes cast; pushing below 0.7%

It is dinner time on the day after the election, so the following link is only "un-official

*****************
Sorry, but censor bots on this site won't let me post the link I found. The cumulative voter turnout is abbreviated using the first three letters of the word cumulative, and thus the abbreviation is replaced in link address with another keyboard character.
*******************

Looks like Wheeler County wins the turn-out contest @ 86% turnout rate. But statewide, it looks around 70% as others have noted.

Interesting that if Multnomah County votes weren't counted, Dudley would be Governor........
Once again Portland tells the state what to do whether they like it or not.

I wonder how many residents of Multnomah county were around during or remember Kitz's last round as Governor?

Multnomah has the highest number of registered voters; and it is highly Democratic by party.

If everyone in every other part of the state voted Republican, the outcome would've been different. Besides, the margin of potential win is not that great.

It's got nothing to do with the city of Portland. Your vote counts. If you don't like it, or the "rest of the state" doesn't like it, vote and get involved in the party of your choice.
