So my husband is in Iraq for the next 14 months... I am wanting to move out to Oregon from Michigan with our one year old daughter for the time that he is gone to take pictures and to enjoy this amazing Oregon that I hear so much about from him Any suggestions on a cheap, baby safe, super sweet place to take photos and sell them?? Thanks everyone!! Peace

The coast is always a favorite.
Crater lake, Union Creek (where the Rogue begins).
The high desert areas of Bend and Redmond have some beautiful vistas.
The Dunes are very unique.
The Redwood forests on the border of California.
There are incredible rivers criss crossing the entire state.
The Portland skyline is impressive day or night.

Heck the whole state is just plain beautiful. I would suggest seeing the whole thing if you can.

I'd suggest a community just outside Portland, like a suburb, or town next to one.

The theory behind that regards Washington being so close to Portland.

Portland is near the beach, Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge, for starters. But when you drive north over the Columbia River, that enables you to see Mt. St. Helens, Ape Caves, Olympic National Forest, Mt. Rainier, and on, and on, and on.

If I was going to move this way for one year, I'd want to photograph the Pacific NW, not just Oregon. And Portland area is centered the best for location, resources and dependable internet service.

There's many places in eastern Oregon that are overlooked--Steens Mountains, Joseph, Wallowa Lake, Painted Desert, Hells Canyon, the magnificent stark beauty of extreme southeastern Oregon. We've got it all.

One of my favorite sights is the big crack that is the entrance to the John Day Fossil Beds on the east side. I still remember the first time I saw it, and the thrill I got when I realized the road was going to go right through it. The Gates of Mordor!

I'd agree with bobmulk, eastern Oregon is not as photographed as western Oregon. Go up to Wallowa Lake or Hells Canyon - there are some absolutely incredible mountains and canyons there, and nobody will believe you took those pictures in Oregon
