I will say in response to delta07 and possibly other posters... One shouldn't eat dinner in a place and judge a whole community based on a single negative occurrence. And each person has their different standards for judgment for different places. One person's trash is another's treasure.

Don't be hurtful and tear down someone's paradise.
I been to Grants Pass several times and never noticed any thing strange like that. Stuff like that can happen anywhere. I don't let the few bad seed ruin your impression of the town.

Bakeoven. I would NOT live there for a million dollars. No culture, no decent places to eat, no good shopping, ten miles away from anywhere.

Most of the population just stands around lazy all day. Everyone drives a rust bucket of a car. The cities traffic patterns are near impossible to deal with. And there is nothing to do on a Friday night.

No culture, no nightlife, no jobs unless you work in healthcare.

I didn't realize people moved to Oregon for the "CULTURE"!
Oregon is one of the last places I would associate with culture.
Not high on the priority list.

Things are different here, Oregon is for dreamers.

It seems to me the folks who posted proclaiming Oregon has no ''culture'' are very confused with the definition and/or context when using this word....

It's my feeling what they are instead talking about is that most of Oregon lacks the ''worldliness '' and '' international feel '' that cities/areas of California and other large metros have. And they're prolly correct....

But make no mistake, Oregon definitely has culture -- It's just different.

Portland, Gresham, Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Lake Oswego.
The rest of the state is fine.
