Anybody else done this?
I haven't done it yet but I want to. I want to live off the land and grow stuff. We will need to become more self sufficient as the govenment tries to take more things away from us to sustain their higher and higher taxes!!

I think you can find that type of land failry easily. The trick is the commute for a job. The McMinnville area might be a good fit- close to Newberg hospital, but cheaper. Also, maybe Dayton, Yamhill. Carlton would be great, but might be too expensive. Maybe Amity. Also, the Dallas, Independence area outside of Salem might be a good fit. McMinnville is my first pick- it has a locally owned beer theatre called 3rd Street Pizza- delicious too! Lots of great restaurants and some culture too!

Financing land is very tough right now, you'll want about 30% down. Of course, if you have cash, you could get a very good deal in this market!
