I'm not talking about high end over top fancy crazy expensive place. I doubt if there even is one, Or the places that have 100 different rolls pilled with junk.
I'm looking for quality fish with talented chefs.

I 'm going to be moving to the area and wondered if there were any good ones.
I have lived in some of the greatest big cities NY, LA, SF, Milan and I usually eat sushi once a week.
I'm spoiled. I don't expect Medford to compete with San Fran, but I'm hopeful it comes close.
I've grown kind of picky when it comes to good sushi.

I was so pleasantly surprised when I ate at Shinsei in Bend a month ago, it was outstanding, top notch. http://www.shinseibend.com/index.html
Unfortunately it's not around Medford.

I also ate at Musashi in Grants pass and thought it was awful.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

I have not been disappointed with Misoya (downtown Medford, near the Craterian). Have eaten there 15+ times. Kobe in Ashland is good and carries more varied rolls. I live close to the Butcher Shop in Eagle Point, and they bring in a sushi chef each Thurs.-Sat. They are basic rolls, nothing exotic, but very fresh.

Shinsei is very good. We tried in February on a ski trek. We stayed at the Oxford Hotel, which was also fantastic.

I just got an email from Meryl from Shinsei about a review I did on Yelp about Shinsei in Bend.

We just opened a restaurant in Medford.
"Same product and same owners!
We're in the north gate marketplace by trader joes! So glad you liked it!"

Oh Happy Days

A bit off track, but the parking lot is one of the worst "modern parking" designs I have ever seen - I understand the developer is looking to build phase 2 and I sincerely hope they hire a better designer next time. The way the main entrance road curves, right there in front of the Trader Joe's where the perpendicular aisle comes in, pretty much asks for accidents. I was talking to one of the TJ's employees and he mentioned that there is a fender-bender there almost every week.

Oops, I forgot about them! Have been once for lunch. We enjoyed, but few tables (less than Misoya, which is small). I agree that the parking is abysmal in Northgate.

I was just going to say... There is a Shinsei here in Medford. Good stuff. There's also Misoya downtown, Wasabi on Crater Lake Ave and a couple places in Ashland
