Probably yes (there are a very few classes of pension that are exempt, but not many). You will be a resident of the state of Oregon and hence have to pay income taxes - just as an Oregonian who moved to California would have to pay taxes on his/her Oregon retirement income.

Neither state taxes Social Security income.

Yup. But you can offset that if your medical and some other expenses are high enough. It will all depend upon how much you receive.

If you have a Fed. pension some part of it may be exempt. You need to fill out a mock Oregon return to see your specific circumstances.

Tax returns are complex, I don't recommend using a website such as above to understand how they impact a specific person. My Oregon income tax burden is very low because Social Security payments are exempt. Also I receive a small Federal pension for employment back in the day when the State exempted Oregon Public pensions (Fed retirees sued and won similar status). The Oregon tax code was changed prospectively.

I do not know if other public pensions have the same tax status, the only way to figure that out is to fill out a mock return.

A senior's medical expenses are deductible from income without limit in Oregon. If a senior is in a long term care facility that is huge.

Again, fill out a mock return.
