With the amount of threads related to the coast is it time to develop a sub forum for the Coast? Bend has a sub forum so should the Oregon Coast have one as well?

It's already been discussed. The forum owner has already decided that there will be no more Oregon sub-forums, until the current sub-forums get more traffic. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Medford or Southern Oregon forum

Still be nice someday to have a place for the coast
Thanks for the reply

On the other hand, almost everyone wants to know what's happening at the coast.

Actually, there are not a lot of posts about the coast. Since I have a house there and would be happy to talk about the coast, I notice posts about the coast and they are not frequent.

The only Oregon forum that is certain to have a few new posts every day is the Portland forum. The other Oregon forums are fairly low volume.

I don't know what you are looking at. I see a few posts everyday in Oregon forums outside of Portland. A fair number of them seem to talk about the coast.

I'm counting 11 active threads in the Oregon forums, in the last 24 hours, and only two of them are in the Portland forum. 6 in Oregon, 2 in Portland 1 each in Eugene, Salem, and Bend.

I wish there was a Coast sub-forum. Maybe we could remove one or two of the other, less active ones?

I've traveled up and down the coast and would love to live near the sea but the weather can be pretty sucky and the medical care is not the best. My husband is not in the best of health and needs to be near good doctors, facilities, hospitals, etc. We are in Ashland and the medical care here is great but there's no ocean and no place to swim (Emigrant Lake does NOT count).

Maybe there is a place I missed that has better facilities but most of Coastal Oregon is on either side of the 101 and looks depressing. Please tell me if I'm wrong (without biting my head off). I love the coast.

One of the things CD likes to do when they create new subforums, other than look at traffic, is to also have it city-specific. So assuming the post traffic is about the same, Medford-Ashland is more likely to get a subforum than "Rogue Valley" which is more likely to get a subforum than "Southern Oregon."

The entire coast, which is a 300-mile-plus string of tiny cities and towns, is even less likely to get a subforum than "Southern Oregon."

The other thing about searching for posts about cities is that time frame really does matter. Posts from 2002, at the start of the real estate bubble when everything was growing and the larger cities look positively rosy, will have a different tone than 2009 after the housing market crashed and jobs went away.

General things, like climate, will stay roughly the same (the PNW in general does have about a 20-year wet/dry cycle, although the last couple years have been fairly anomalous as far as weather averages and highs/lows), but any question on housing, amenities, medical care, jobs, you're really better off asking a new question than bringing up old threads.
