Moving away further north (oregon, finally!) and wondering about a few things- not too hot and not a constant deluge/torrent/gale! I love the weather here in Fort Bragg, will be moving and still co- raising a special needs (not medically fragile) kid, with someone who would like to be in same school (so we can bus to either of us) but maybe a tad warmer than I (coast and inland a few miles?) The Dad may need to be able to access a hospital without a soujourn.... I have other special needs kids and need to hire some helpers sometimes. Neither of us is dependent upon employment, want fruit trees and a little land between us and the next guy. Where to start???? Any input appreciated!

I'm not familiar with Canada and have no idea where Ft. Bragg is, but doesn't Canada have a decent medical system? You will do best to stay there, I think. I'm sure the Oregon coast will be a little milder than the Canadian coast, but medical services there are rudimentary at best.

Actually the Japanese current travels between Vancouver Island and mainland BC. If the OP can live on the lee (east side) of one of the islands & south of Vancouver's latitude they will usually experience milder weather than the north Oregon coast.

Fort Bragg is in California, near Mendocino. Pretty sure the OP is not talking about Canada.

You may want to consider Brookings or Tillamook for warmer weather than Fort Bragg. But most of the coast will be very much like Fort Bragg in terms of temps and precip. Maybe even somewhat colder in the winters.

Yes, the climate will be similar, but the Oregon coast is relatively sparsely populated. The entire Oregon coast has about as many people as Mendocino County. Special educational and medical needs would be easier to meet in the Willamette Valley.

Warmer maybe, but not dryer. A lot of storms miss Oregon but not the north coast.

Yes, the Gulf Islands are wetter.

If the OP really wants a climate on the OR or WA coast that is milder than Fort Bragg then Brookings is the best. The nearest health care for serious conditions would be in Crescent City, CA.

I wouldn't pick anywhere on the Oregon coast for quick easy access to hospitals and or high quality special needs programs in schools. You'd be better off looking at Eureka/Arcata CA area or perhaps Olympia or Bellingham in WA if you want that same coastal climate in a more developed area than Fort Bragg.
