I've been considering Grants Pass/Medford area as an option to move to in the not so distant future. The main thing thats deterring me is the gas pump thing. I've been through Oregon and had it pumped for me twice. How long did it take you to get use to the idea? I get it if you're older and dont' want to get out of your car anyways. It's a trust thing I think mostly for me as I hand the attendant my card to swipe.

There is a proposal working its way through committee that will allow self-pumping. I think it will pass in the next legislative session.

when I first got to Oregon I think it took me 3 times to get used to it, something like that. I prefer having someone else do it for me, but now it's pump it yourself in the gorge.

frankly, it's not that big a deal either way you'll get used to it.

Then don't hand your card over. Get out of the car ans swipe it yourself.

You are right there watching the attendant. What do you think he is going to do with your card that you can't watch him do it.

There. are some places you can pump your own. I don't know if that bill will pass.

When I was young, I had no idea to tip the person pumping the gas. Now that I'm back, I over-tip for all the times I got gas and didn't tip when young. I have a hybrid though, so it's not so painful.

I love not pumping my own gas but am perfectly capable of doing it.

Tipping at an Oregon gas station? Never. Maybe if you are very rich, but just no. I understand Oregon looks at this as an employment feature. It has never made sense to me. Atleast they have opened up selfserve in some smaller communities.

Guess I missed that boat as well. How did you learn that we're supposed to tip at gas stations?

Please tip if you want. But why overpay for gas due to an archaic law? Seriously, Oregon change the law to match 48 other States. (New Jersey is the other).
