We are retired and considering a move to the outskirts of Grants Pass, just north of the airport off Monument Drive., near Merlin.
There are a mixture of homes and mobiles on 2 acre properties, more or less.
During our visit a month ago we did not see that area and were wondering if anyone here has any input on that location, positive or negative.
We really like Grants Pass, but are still open to other areas a little more north to it along the 5 freeway.

It is an affordable area, with a mix of small ranches and residential.
The Paradise Golf Resort is in the process of being built. It will bring a demand for more shopping and service businesses to open.
Warm dry summers, and mild winters. Has an easy on and off I-5 to get to G.P. in a couple min. or to Medford 30 mins. South.
There are public and private schools, Merlin-Galice road takes you to boat launches, and beautiful county parks, and is the road to Hellsgate canyon, and Rainie falls.

best wishes,

freedom

Something serious to consider is law enforcement. The sheriff's office may lose essentially all patrols and all jail beds in the county within the next year due to insufficient funding. Since that area is outside of the Grants Pass city limits, things could get a little scary down the road.

Hello folks, I owned a 3 acre property there but sold it a year ago, I purchased a beautiful place on the southern Oregon coast, man what a diffrent world it is, Merlin was just OK, it gets very hot and dry in the summer and will occasionally snow in the winter, the people there seem to keep to thereselves, I didn't particularly like that, plus 3.5 acres was just too much to keep up with, if you want a place to retire with much more beauty than Merlin/ grants Pass and alot more friendlier folks check out Brookings, you will see a vast diffrence, take my word you will love it there!

Merlin does not impress me There are so many other nicer areas around Grants Pass, Rogue River, even Medford. The wise thing to do would be to investigate all those areas before making a commitment ; there are many bargains in real estate now
