All you people that are leaving, I need a place to live, and I'd love to move to Oregon. If you have a nice affordable apartment that you are vacating, please let me know. I'm trying to get out of Los Angeles. You are more than welcome to have the continual sunshine and monotony here -- and all these people with cell phones stuck to their heads...

Yep,heres another one.Sad to leave, but we did for all the reasons above.I would rather have distinct seasons then mild and constant rain/drizzle/grey.Only one family member remains there and he now has web feet and is an ol crab .Summers are lovely, short, and sweet, but sunny everyday? Oregon mom7 dont count on it

I was born in Portland Oregon, 90% of my life, Id say was lived there. After 35 years or so it (the weather) really started to get to me. Id say the winter of 95/96, right after some idiot weather man from transplanted from California said we were heading into a drought cycle.
It began to rain, starting in the second week of Oct or so. And it just kept on raining (possibly just to mock aforementioned weather personality). Highlighted by heavy flooding in the Milwakie area as well as areas of downtown and North Portland I believe it rained well into May. I began to research alternative living arrangements around that time.
I currently reside in San Antonio and think the sun to rain ratio suits me better here. Before you come running to Texas, Id like to remind you that it gets HOT here almost unbearably so for 3 months of the year. I gladly traded the 9+ months of dreary NW weather for it. You are not alone, even the natives tire of the wet and gray of Oregon. I miss the beauty of the NW but one more fall/winter/early spring and I might have gone mad.
On a side note many people in the San Antonio area think Portland and Seattle have high suicide rates due to weather? Makes me laugh but I hear it way too often.

Squidlo...sorry to hear about that idiot weather man from California. I bet he had good hair though.

But why do you say you lived 90% of your life in Portland? You're not dead yet.

I was just in Bend for a conference. I was astonished at the number of young people in sidewalk cafes and taverns downtown. If you are in your 20s and affluent, Bend would be a great place to be.

Actually is kind of raining and gloomy here alot in Austin. I think my home of Virginia has the best weather of places I've been there is just alot more beautiful days than anything else but I still hope that doesn't mean a ton of people will move its beautiful but you'll probably get bored.
