Portland is proud of its progressive/liberal/socialist/urban snobbery bent, but compared to Washington and California, Oregon is definitely the most redneck-ish of the three.
There is a redneck presence. Where isn't there in this country? Or in other countries even with a similar demographic, like the bogans of Australia?

There are areas in Washington and California just as redneck as, for example, Klamath Falls or Eagle Point in Oregon.

However, Oregon just cannot be considered redneck, overall, because it's not.

After reading the entire post about Oregon being redneckish or not, I finally understand why people I knew called Oregon redneckish. Just because Oregon is more rural than both California and Washington doesn't mean it's redneckish. It's just rural, beautiful country with mountains, lakes, and rivers with Portland being smaller than Seattle and big cities in CA.

Yep you nailed it, REDNECK Nation in Oregon.

EVen Portland is full of REDNECKS.... I'd stay as far away as you possibly can.

I hear Boston Mass. Is the place....

Progressive heaven, gay marriage, pedophiles, wealth redistribution, social-fascist love fest over there.

O'bama might even visit, if it gets anymore progressive.

If the Left Coast is your thing, try San Francisco.... millions of Pelosi packers there.

Default Yes it is true DON'T move here

Yes we marry our 1st cousins, we take pride in the number of sofas and cars on blocks in our front yards, and we are armed to the teeth and shoot at anything, especially outlanders seeking to move here.

Are you joking about all those Redneck tendencies in Oregon or are you trying to scare me into not moving to Oregon? I noticed many people in some Oregon threads are complaining about new people moving there especially the ones from California. I may be a liberal but not a tree-hugging liberal for sure. LOL!

We use our guns to shoot at the outlanders, BUT ONLY those who aren't treehuggers...

I think you find most of Oregon to your liking. There are definitely some backwoods parts, but like another poster said, what part of the country are there not a few rednecks!

OP, maybe Springfield is for you. The bus system there rivals that of Portland & the cost of living is lower than Portland! I think I heard the mills are hiring...?

There always has to be a few rednecks so we special people have somebody to mock and feel superior to.

Very funny about redneck jokes! I could live with rednecks and country folks. When I said rednecks, I really mean extremely toothless rednecks with shotgun weddings, trailer parks using bed sheets as curtains, cars on blocks, and property with full of junk and beer cans while proudly displaying racist (or confederate) flags like you see in most southern states like Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee. That wasn't and still isn't a pretty sight for me to see since I'm from the Midwest (Chicago and Indianapolis). We do have rednecks but nothing like that you know what I mean. That's why I am leaving the South plus I hate hot summers with humidity too! I'm in Arkansas not by choice but because of my job anyway.
