Here's another creepy: A big hunk of the Jack Nicholson version of The Shining was filmed at Timberline Lodge.

And of course, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was both written at, and filmed in, the Oregon State Mental Hospital in Salem. I got drunk with Jack Nicholson at the Ram Pub one night, a long time ago. He was really into Randall McMurphy.

Default Old Joy

If you haven't seen it, Old Joy is excellent. It is short (only 76 minutes) but beautiful.

Mean Creek. It's kind of a more depressing Stand By Me. But a good little film.

I'm one of the dead confederate soldiers in the burned out Forests of Takilma. Lied in the snow for 4 hrs. got paid $30 bucks. Lol. Incredible cinematography, artsy kind of film. Directed by Jim Jarmusch. You might be able to find in on Blockbuster.com
that's pretty awesome, Dead Man is one of my favorite films. The burnt out forest scenes are some of my favorites! The whole last segment of the film is a neat trippy landscape dream. Neil Young's soundtrack sure helped! Ebert described it as him dropping his guitar over and over again. heh, that guy just didn't get it.

Are you the first or second guy shown? Too bad you didn't even make minimum wage!

That scene was in Takilma, south west of Cave Junction. They had a fire a couple seasons before they filmed, it was cool with the snow on the ground.

I'm the first soldier with an arrow to the chest..and one in the leg...
It was fun, I kept my eyes open and the snowflakes kept getting in, they had to do take after take...it was cold.

Default Oregon

Dear Lipton,

Yes, their has been a lot of movie's filmed in Oregon.
One in particular is a John Wayne movie called "Rooster and the Lady" also know as "Rooster Cogburn" this is a western. This was filmed in Bend, Oregon and and the river used was the Deschutes River in Bend, Oregon. I know of this because my mother dated John Waynes double Chuck Roberson

Hope this helps...

A movie that might also have special themes or aspects, that would only be specific to Oregon itself. -Something like an inside jokes....or some things that only a REAL Oregonian, could truly appreciate. Also give a viewer an idea what the weather is like.

Kind of like the movie Fargo....or any movie or t.v. show, that depicts life in another part of the country. ie...Rocky / Philadelphia Seinfeld / N.Y. City Sleepless in Seattle / Seattle

I'd imagine there has to be a few movies. I'm from Ohio. Thinking about visiting Portland area, sometime soon. -THANKS
