I am feeling really stupid but as I put fertilizer into the pool bed I let some get into the pool. Now the surface has rusty spots.

Has anyone done this and do you know anyone who can repair without resurfacing.?

thanks

The rusty spots are probably algae.

Fertilizer contains nitrates. Nitrates are algae food.

You might consider dumping the water & emptying your pool, & hire a professional to give it an acid wash. That may solve your problem, without having to re-plaster.

But you have to move quickly, especially in the wet season, because hydrostatic ground pressure can "pop" an empty gunite shell in areas with a high water table.

Once an acid wash is completed, refill the pool immediately, & then re-balance the fresh water.
