My husband and I are planning our trip to look at areas in Orlando. We know we don't want to buy until we rent for at least 6 months to decide for ourselves which area would work best for us. From what I have read the HOA fees are good in cypress and they have good schools. My husband is a nurse and a paramedic and I am also a nurse. Is there any close hospitals/urgent cares in the area? Any information you can give us is great.

Are you talking about cypress lakes near the corner of SR50 Colonial and
Chuluota?

We don't know that much about the area yet. I can tell you that it is in east orlando. It is near Columbia Elementary and East River Highschool.

Appears to be the one at Rt 50 and Chuluota Rd as its zoned for those schools. There is heavy traffic at rush hour on Rt 50. Investor focused area equating to high rate of rentals in the area. Do your due diligence!

How about the Disney's back yard, Windermere / Winter Springs area? Homes start at $200,000 and Florida Hospital has just purchased land to build a new hospital.

Lake Nona area with 2 new hospitals and again Florida Hospital has purchased land to build, prices start around $200,000 to $250,000.

Both areas have great schools.

With medical jobs being one of top reasons buyers relocate to Central Florida I keep up with the hospitals. I have family that relocated just for that very reason now working at Florida Hospital.

hope this helps,

Thanks Dave! I had originally looked into windermere and lake nona. Sounds like we should just stay with those areas. Lake Nona housing seems quite less than windermere. When we do buy we don't want to spend more thatn 350000. We can afford it but don't want to be "house poor".

I'd advise against that area. Nice subdivision, but kind of far out. Also East Orlando has been hit pretty bad with foreclosures and lots of rental houses. JMO.

That area is in 32820, same zip code as Bithlo.
That should answer your question.

Just make sure you are in Lake Nona proper. The subdivisions across the street are full of renters and often align themselves with Lake Nona even though they are not. Stick with Northlake Park, Laureate Park, etc. the welcome center there has lots of good info. One thing ill tell you is that 350k is doable in Lake Nona but far from what most would consider a higher end home.

Cypress Lakes is a nice community with great amenities. Kids all walk or ride bikes to school. IMO, it is far enough away from Bithlo, and only 30 minutes to Cocoa Beach. Stores are close by, and you would be on the border of Oveido and Orlando. There are rentals in every neighborhood. The Hoa is pretty good with enforcing rules as far as making sure the homes look nice. There is a pool, new splash pad being installed, clubhouse, pool table, tennis courts, playgrounds, 2 dog parks, and weight room. Grocery store is across from neighborhood. Waterford Lakes is also close by. Hope that helps.
