Hi there,

I'd love to take Jagger my 7 year old Dachshund to Winter Garden Animal Hospital but it's $500-$800.
Which I just can't afford right now.

Can anyone recommend a better alternative?

Dog teeth cleaning, recommend good deal in Orlando?-p4273223wm.jpg
Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend taking a pet for teeth cleaning under anesthesia, let alone a middle aged to senior aged one. There are all kinds of complication risks with anesthesia and there is a newer methodology that provides for cleaning without anesthesia. I don't know the cost but it's worth investigating as the anesthesia is what costs so much of what they're quoting you. Check out Palmetto Animal Hospital in Mount Dora (I know, not close but the closest one) which offers this procedure. As an FYI cleaning can be done at home with a toothbrush and pet toothpaste. It requires a bit of patience and persistence but can save you a lot of money in vet bills.

Kyle, Thanks for the info, I will look into it further. But that was my initial idea, not to give him an anasthetic. Upon further investigation it is a traumatic experience. And there is no way I am going to put him through a painful, probably terrifying, procedure. It would be like torturing him. No way.

He's had an anesthetic before. Before I got him.

Thanks VTGal, I will see if they can convince me to not torture him

Thumbs up SparklingK9's are highly recommended, no more dog breath!

Thanks Kyle and VTGal,

I took Jagger to see SparklingK9's as recommended here, thanks.

Teresa is indeed skilled and Jagger was perfectly fine. Instinctively he knew he was in good hands and clearly trusted Teresa, who is obviously a big dog lover and cares greatly about her 4-legged patients

I'd say that this was far simpler than the more expensive with anesthetic procedure.
Was in and out in less than an hour, Oh and his breath is so much nicer. No more dog breath!
