Hello! I will be relocating to Altamonte Springs from Queens NY this Fall. Do you have any advice on nice apartment complexes in the area for my partner and I & our 3 year old? Also, what is your opinion on the area? We will be living very close to family there.

Great family area, very convenient, good parks and recs system, best apartments in my opinion are around Jamestown Road, Montgomery Road, Central Parwkway, and north of the mall.

Many people like the Altamonte Springs area. For me I find myself feeling stressed and closed in fighting that 436 traffic trying to get basically any place in Altamonte Springs.

It is one of the most crowed and congested areas in Central Fl. It does have a lot of amenities and if you don't mind the traffic it may work for you.

If you're moving here from NYC I doubt 436 traffic will bother you. Altamonte is a mix of city and suburb. Most people consider the very outter core of the Orlando urban area.

I agree and you might also consider neighboring towns like Casselberry, Longwood or Lake Mary which are at most 10-15 minutes away and much less congested largely.

I moved to Casselberry from North Florida a little over three months ago and I go to Altamonte quite often for doctors, bank, all kinds of shopping including the mall of course. It's very convenient to have so many different kinds of business so close together but the traffic sure is congested. Wow, is it congested.

Fortunately for me I'm retired so I don't have to deal with the commuting to work traffic. I would hate to have to go through the I4-436 traffic during rush hour twice a day.

If you live in the Altamonte area you can take Central Parkway to avoid a lot of the traffic lights on 436. Also when trying to travel from 436 to 434 (headed south) you can cut through Orange Street to avoid the traffic lights at the intersection of 436 and 434.

Yeah anyone with knowledge of Altamonte or access to Google maps can easily avoid most of 436, which really can rival many areas up north for congestion.

Hello Crane's Rooster and anyone that has information on Altamonte Springs

I am new to the the forum and this is only the second time that I have posted. I will be relocating to Altamonte Springs from the US Virgin Islands and I wanted input on Altamonte. Based on what I have read it seems to be a very family centered place, which is just what I am looking for! These are my questions?

How walkable is Altamonte? My family and I enjoy walking to nearby stores, restaurants, parks, shopping, etc.

Are you familiar with Tiffany Oaks Apartments? Is it safe?

What is the job market like? I am presently an Elementary Teacher, I am also working on completing my Directors Certification for the state of Florida. I am open to positions outside of teaching as well such as Preschool Director, Administrative Assistant, and Customer Service. I am also considering attending a vocational school to complete training in Medical Assistant or something in the medical field.

From my research the area has goog high schools! As I have 1 daughter that will be a sophmore. She is also very into sports. What sporting activities are available for teenagers? As well as vocational schools and colleges?

Thanks! any input as it is greatly needed!
