Hey you guys, i'm a college student, and i'm just wondering if Orlando is a good place for college kids? (I'm moving from NY, so it will be a major change, i know.)

The schools down in Florida will cost less than half of what you are paying now. Even if you have to pay out of state tuition.

Out of state tuition in FL often cost less than in state tuition in other places. And yes, Orlando is good for college students. UCF has really made big strides to build a more cohesive campus community. The addition of the on campus stadium has really energized school spirit from what I've heard.

The other great thing is being in Orlando give you the opportunity to visit(party on) alot of other FL campus. Gainesville and Tampa are easy weekend trips and Tallahassee and Miami can be done in a weekend.

yoooo

I went to UCF and had a blast. It's not your typical 'southern' school such as FSU or UF where those schools sort of have that small town feel since they are in small towns. A lot of the students at UCF are from Palm Beach and Broward counties(which both have a lot of new yorkers, had one good friend from Cherry Hill, NJ). I had several friends from that area but their parents are from NY so that's why I thought you would fit in fine. It's a good mix, you have a school right by a good size city but you still sort of have that college 'area' feel b/c the campus is 10 miles east of downtown in it's own part of town and has some good college bars(Devaneys Too, Knight Library, Knightly Scoop, Cellar) so it's not a commuter school anymore like some may assume, and add the on campus stadium which has really made it a great atmosphere in the fall.
-If you live on campus, I would recommend Academic Village b/c you're right by the Fitness Center and the lagoon style pool where there is tons of talent laying out daily
UCF is a good choice, you'll have a blast
