So I've been living in Clearwater for 2 years, and i find it pretty boring. I also find myself in Orlando quite a bit, usually at Disney or at universal. I've been to downtown a couple of times and i really like it. so my fiance and i are planning to move. The reason for the thread, is I'm trying to find a good/safe neighborhood that is affordable like 800 to 1000 for a 1 bdrm affordable. For some background, I'm originally from Chicago where i lived for over 30 years, I've lived in Largo for 2 years. So as long as its safer than both of these places I'm OK.

You'll need to go to the top of your price range for something that's desirable to most and that seems safe as well. The average one bedroom in Orlando rents for about $1200 a month currently and anything less than a $1000 a month (especially $800 to $900) is going to resemble average resident wise some of the less desirable neighborhoods in Chicago and perhaps Largo. There are some neighborhoods to avoid that are closer to downtown and the parks, among the least obvious is the area around Mall at Millenia and across I-4 from there around Kirkman/Metrowest. I attached some options below which are in better areas within budget, but in decent areas close to where you would want to be. Good luck!
