Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what the fastest growing area in Orlando is. Also seems like many work in the downtown part of Orlando. Why is this? Aren't there jobs anywhere else?

Hi,

Central Florida is expected to grow quite rapidly in the next years due to several factors such as job growth, cost of living (comparing to other urban areas), and other economic opportunities.

A 2005 Milken survey pointed that out of 10 fastest growing job markets, 6 are in Florida, including Orlando-Kissimmee area. ( http://www.milkeninstitute.org search for Orlando for the article.)

Also checkout myregion.org if you really want to get down to statistics.

It's difficult to pinpoint accurately where the fastest growing place is in greater Orlando. You can find lots of new commercial and residential developments in every direction.

Seems to me that east Orlando is growing quite fast and will grow even moreso, especially in the Lake Nona area with the new medical "corridor" plans. Yes, other jobs are out there....depends on what you're looking for. Not everyone obviously works in downtown.

Hard to tell, but the urban sprawl sure is so extensive that you never know when cities end and begin.

Honestly, this is growth overkill, so if you enjoy crowded places, Orlando will be home for you!!

For most people, the traffic, overcrowded schools, urban sprawl, and road rage is not appealling, but hey it takes all kinds, huh?

Ps. East Orlando has a lot of ghettos and trailer parks. It is know as "Little Mexico". Hard to find anyone speaking English.

Growing areas in and around Orlando include: Lake Nona area, Lake Mary - Heathrow, Mt. Dora (although Mt. Dora is not technically part of Orlando).

I've never heard it called "Little Mexico." That would be an odd name since most hispanics in Azalea Park/East Orlando are Puerto Rican or Dominican...

Anyway, people, cars, traffic, and development are present everywhere, particularly in places where many, many, many want to be.

But you are right, if you want a rural, small-town, one stoplight, bucolic backwater, perhaps one of the largest cities in one of the fastest growing states isn't for you!! (That much should be obvious, right/??).

You think so? I’d say Lake Nona, and possibly downtown. The amount of 5-10 story apartment buildings that keep popping up downtown is pretty impressive.

At least in terms of homes and condos sold and bought. Much comes from all the new construction.
