We are looking at affordability as our main specification, then safety. I am an LPN, my husband has 11 years of law enforcement exp. rent will be tight, we have to rent for 6 more months before we will be in a position to buy. Once we can buy, we will be more flexible because we will hopefully be able to buy and have a mortgage payment lower than a rent payment down there

Lake County. Despite the negativity from some, the schools are fine. There are some excellent private schools too.

Eh... It's generally bad. The public schools are quite terrible, and... what private schools out there do you consider to be good? (I'm excluding Montverde and Clermont from this. They are the exception.) I had my kids in Liberty for a year. Pulled them out very fast.

Faith Lutheran in Eustis and MDCA in Mount Dora. These are excellent schools.

How conservative is Dr. Phillips/Windermere area? I know the overall county is liberal.

I grew up in the area and I’d say it’s purple leaning blue. There’s pockets of red, especially in old Windermere where there’s a ton of wealth. But I’d say it’s more fiscally conservative than socially conservative.
