Have any of you guys used movers in the area? Long story short, moving from my Baldwin Park home to Palm Harbor -- roughly 110 miles.

Moving from a 2br/2ba, but not taking my sofas, nor my bed, although I am bringing my kids' two twin beds.

Basically, taking essentials such as TVs, entertainment center, huge computer setup for work, possibly dining table and chairs, and then it's all boxed stuff with kitchenware/plates, bunch of clothes, etc.

I got a quote that ran around $1,200 which sounds kind of wild, to me. I'd rather rent a pickup truck at that point and make two or three round trips to accomplish the task.

Has anyone here moved some 2-3 hours away and used a good, reasonably-priced moving company? If I can't find one that I think is fair, I will do it myself, but really, I don't feel like it.

Thanks ahead!

If you are doing short distance like that, rent a U Haul and do it yourself in obe trip. If you know exactly what you are moving, they are very good at getting you the appropriate Truck/Van.

This time of year with bookings and supply shortage a pickup rental may end up costing more.

We moved from Jacksonville to Orlando a few years ago and used Best Movers of America. We moved many times with the US military before but our last move with Best Movers of America was the best regarding damages. With them we had zero damages! We packed all boxes ourselves and they wrapped the furniture.

I got 3 quotes and BMoA was considerably cheaper than the two other moving companies, the price was very reasonable! They quote by distance and number of rooms over the phone. Why don't you get a quote from them and then decide if you use a company or do it yourself?

I don't know if they go out of Central Florida, but try calling these guys. I've used them multiple times and each time was a great experience.

Check out Expedient Movers. I used them for my Oldsmar to Sanford move and another time in-town (Sanford to Lake Mary) and highly recommend them. I think I paid around $500-$600 for a well-equipped two-bedroom moving from Oldsmar to Sanford. https://expedient-movers.com/

Will do!!! That actually sounds very reasonable.

And... You moved from Oldsmar to Sanford?? Why? lol... Not that I think there is anything wrong with half of Sanford, but Oldsmar/North Pinellas kind of sold me as being one of the nicest parts of Florida...

It wasn't really voluntary. I had initially planned to live there and had purchased a condo in East Lake Woodlands. On the day before the closing of my house in Philly, my Mom had a stroke and wound up in the hospital. When I got down here the day after closing she was still in the hospital, and had to be moved to a rehab center. After a month there it was pretty much deemed that she needed a memory care unit at an assisted living facility long-term. I figured the writing was on the wall for having to make that drive that often, so I sold the condo and moved into her home for a few years. I spent all told one night in the condo and sold at a 10K loss...

Wow... Sorry to hear... East Lake Woodlands is gorgeous. I am literally right up the road from there, off of East Lake.

Nice! My favorite area in the Tampa Bay metro. There's literally everything there you could want/need. Interesting to note that the Countryside Mall there continues to thrive minus tourists (like Millenia) and hasn't gone down in quality like Florida Mall or Altamonte Mall. A brilliant move putting Whole Foods into the former Sears lower level and that ice rink was another stroke of genius.
