recently moved to the area from a small town.. read some reviews on my new location, and must say am not feeling very safe. i unfortunately have to come in late at night/early morning and altho have never had a problem, cannot help but notice the multitude of alarms and sirens on and off all the time. i am a single gal, living solo and get a bit nervous as i have no family or friends in the area. i am close to Universal, and unfortunately have heard the lovely reputation of I-Drive, which is not all that far.
am i actually safe here, or should i pack up and head back to the country where i belong? i would certainly like to be alive and in tact when i get to move from this place at the years end!

Just be very aware of your surroundings and you should be fine. There are some bad neighborhoods around Universal, so check the parking lot when getting our of your car late at night.

I have lived in 32835 for a few years now, and not had any problems. That being said, there are some parts of MetroWest that I would not feel safe in. I currently live on the Hiawassee side, south of Metrowest Blvd. If you live in any of the communities adjacent to the Wal-Mart, or on Kirkman, then you'll definitely want to watch your back. And whatever you do, don't be tempted to stop at the Wal-Mart before going home...avoid it like the plague after dark.

If you have to go to Walgreens or WalMart in the middle of the night, I would suggest going to Dr Phillips/Winder Garden over what is closer on Kirkman. It can be pretty bad like the last poster just stated. There is a new Walmart on Turkey Lake closer to Lake Buena Vista that is safer and there are Publix and Walgreens everywhere.

I haven't had a problem living in Metrowest, I even go running at night. Granted, I'm a city girl and have encountered my fair share of threats so I'm not easily scared. Stay west of Kirkman and you should be fine. You will hear sirens regularly because it is a city, it's not an uncommon thing at all.
