I want to move from a small town in oklahoma to a bigger city in florida. I have never been to the east coast. We started to feel the economic slow down in aug. I know a lot of bussiness owners, they are feeling it too! it's scary to have to start over. but THIS time I do NOT plan to rent a bussiness building. We are just going to do ON location photography. And teaching photography. Is there oppertunity to have a susessful bussiness there? Is there a need for great photography? We have priced some photographers in that area. Alot of them are cheeper then what I am preasently having to charge to keep in bussiness.
I am looking for a wealthy naiborhood that can help a photography bussiness finacially grow! I am in a area that is very conservative with thier money and even though they are big spenders on looks. they tend to spend less then average on pictures.
It is not our quality of photos, we are well established in our area and charge the most. oklahoma and texas are states that are knowen for been conservative. please help me figure out if this may be a good move doring the economic slow down. I have live in 2 major citys (I have family in Florida)

I'm going to warn you that there are several extraordinary and very well established photographers already in the area, and they are struggling right now. Business is way down, and one has given up his studio and moved his business into his home to cut back on expenses.

This is probably not a good time to try to start up a new business like the one you are suggesting. Even the wealthy have cut way back.

Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida would be a good location. Its a very wealthy area with potential students at Rollins College.

I am going to get rent for free and utilities for free. And only do photography on location, because I will not be renting a space big enough to shot in. I will NOT be RENTING at all. So that was the turning point in my decicion to go to the florida (ocala area). Right now I pay alot in bills to live in a med. sized house, and have a down town studio. I know with-in a year I will be able to save alot of money. I just hope the rain dose not affect the out-door photography. Dose it rain every day? Or dose it rain every week? When are the dry mounths? do you have any dry months?
