We are thinking about a move to Windermere and have been doing research! What are the best neighborhoods there? Which ones have the best amenities, location, recreation, etc. Anything you can tell me about schools, the area, shopping, dining, pros and cons about living there, etc. Is there a good rec department in Windermere - my kids play soocer, baseball and other sports.
What else do you love about Windermere?
Thanks so much!

Like many places it will depend on your budget. Windermere is lovely but some of the sub-divisions have some hefty price tags.
As far as shopping goes you have Dr Phillips for your groceries, Mall of Millenia for your designer gear and the Florida Mall for all your other essentials all within 10-15 4.mins. Restaurant Row on Sand Lake will provide you with all your dining needs and there are plenty of chains around as this is touristville!
You have the lakes for boating and jet skiiing right on your doorstep. The beach 45 mins away if you go to Cocoa Beach.
There is a very good YMCA IN Dr Philiips and there always seems to be plenty going on for children soccer, baseball and they have a pool
Its pretty much all here and there are alot of homes on the market right now so you have alot of choice.
I think you will enjoy it here it is a very safe, family orientated place. We are very happy here!

Both very nice neighbourhoods. We live in Bay Hill in Dr Phillips which is a nice neighbourhood but not gated. Windermere club has lovely lots which will be great for kids. Keenes Point has much smaller lots and ew feel the homes tend to be more on top of each other but some people like this. Windermere Club is probably my prefered neighbourhood. I like the fact Windermere has sidewalks and you often see people walking or riding their bikes with their children. The speed limits are strictly enforced and it has a very old florida feel. The Windermere police do a great job with this and many a person gets a ticket trying to get away with it!

Windermere is good, but traffic to the job areas (downtown Orlando) will be over 1h each way.

Can you also afford Windermere?? It is expensive there!
