Just curious if anyone moved away from Orlando or Florida in general with major complaints about the area.. Only to appreciate it more and moved back for good and now there is no turning back?

I have several friends that felt they hated everything here and everyone, moved anywhere from two months to a year, and ended up coming back. I personally think they needed an extended vacation.

May I ask the reasons most of your friends want to return to FL?

I moved to the Upstate of SC as well and had an already strong appreciation of Orlando that was only more firmly reinforced. Don't get me wrong, the Greenville-Spartanburg area has it's pluses however, it really points out where Orlando succeeds as a bigger city, world renowned entertainment destination, improving local community, and an overall not too big not too small place to live. Spend a year in a city with no professional sports, no clubs or bars open past 10 maybe 11 pm on weekends, and a fraction of the size and amenities of Central Florida. YOU WILL grow to appreciate Orlando for what it is, a growing, budding, major metropolitan area with a real airport lol.

OrlFlaUsa,

My friend actually lives in Anderson SC, and he's from Sanford. So he's really not much on big cities anyhow. He's moving back more for family reasons. He really appreciates the area he's in now though, especially the friendliness of the residents and the natural beauty which Orlando lacks.

I moved away from Orlando 5 months ago and miss it all the time. I see the plusses about living in Orlando now. I love living in Las Vegas (inspite of the fact there is no major sports team) but Orlando will always be home

And ComSense, there IS natural beauty and friendly residents in Orlando...you just never found them

What you think Orlando's not a "major" metropolitan area (compared to the Upstate of SC BTW) or you think that I didn't miss having the 13th busiest airport in the entire US so I could fly direct versus GSP which usually required a connection in Atlanta or Charlotte or you were on a puddle jumper the entire way. So yeah, Orlando is a much larger and self-sufficient city than the one I moved to (Keep in mind I was in Spartanburg which is the smaller of the 2 cities in the Upstate).

@Com: Anderson, man that is pretty remote save Clemson. Sanford all depends on where. My folks used to live in "Sanford" but it was next door to Heathrow and they had more of the Golf Course lifestyle. However there are parts of Sanford where I know exactly what you mean. I think Orlando is pretty in it's own way and really the Upstate of SC cannot hold a candle to Western NC where you are at. You can see the mountains way off from SC but it's like a tease with the beauty so increased once you climb the Saluda grade on 26.
