Is a gated community in Maitland a good idea? Is the area known to be really sketchy?

It is considered a nice area of Orlando. It is the northern-most part of Orange county, and parts of Winter Park's charm can be found there on the east side of I-4 around Lake Lily. The west side of I-4 in Maitland is mostly office parks and apartment complexes. Eatonville is not so nice, but not horrible. I wouldn't go wandering around the streets off back behind Kennedy Blvd at night. I drive down Kennedy itself a lot. What part of Maitland is it? They just finished construction of a brand new police building right across from Visconti, which has a lot of places for rent, and I know that place is safe.

Also, see if The Village at Lake Lily is in your budget. It's on the pricey-side I think, but really nice and looks secure...right next to Lake Lily and other stuff. They might have some good move-in deals as they have signs outside and places are desperate right now. I looked in there and it was really posh.
