I suspect this is, in part due to these subprimes over the last three years being converted (instead of foreclosed) into fixed rates, but the source of the problems were not addressed. These folks still could not afford their homes, sadly, and ended up in the same place, a year or two later.

The more we try to 'bandaid' the problems, rather than let them sort themselves out, the longer this housing issue will continue to beleager the marketplace. I feel bad for the many people losing their homes, I really do, but, that is how it goes sometimes. We just gotta start at the bottome again, and work it back up.
