I hear a lot about Thornton Park, College Park and Delaney Park as desirable downtown neighborhoods. I was wondering about general opinions on the Lake Cherokee Historic District. Is this generally considered a desirable place to live? Pros/Cons?

Extremely desirable. The only "con" is that you probably need to be very wealthy to even think about living there. Cherokee is a very small area, and in that small area is some of the most unique and nice older homes you will ever witness in Orlando. Lake Cherokee is beautiful and Cherokee Park is always full of people playing sports, walking dogs or having a picnic. I live about 4 blocks away from there and can tell you it would be my first choice if someone was going to give me a house ANYWHERE in Orlando. You have a beautiful view of the skyline. You have 2 very large lakes within 2 blocks. You have immediate access to several parks and walking trails. You are minutes away from I4 and 408.
Best of all, people are nice and it's very neighborly.

I cannot say enough nice things about Lake Cherokee.

It's a beautiful area and the architecture is way cool.

Back in the late nineties there was a Thursday night urban bike ride that started around 7 pm, one of the rides included this area.

Hope this helps,
