I have been offered a teaching position in Osceola County for the upcoming school year. My husband and I currently live in Ohio. I have been searching for a position here for more than three years and the market is ridiculous, so I looked out of state. Now that I have been offered the position, we want to be sure to make the right choice for our family. I am looking for some advice on areas to live and best schools for my soon to be 6th grader. We have been looking at Auburndale, the Gibsonia area (Lake Gibson schools), St. Cloud, and Narcoossee. We also looked at Harmony but it seems a little like a cult community to us. Anyone have any advice on which is the best community? It is about the same distance from any of them for my employment. We are really confused right now and trying to do research online is so difficult, every website says something different. Tks for any help.

Even if your commute is longer, look in Orange County or even Southern Lake County. I would avoid Osceola and Polk Counties as far as schools go.

Narcoossee/Lake nona area would be good for you since its close to Osceola county. Like annerk said, try to avoid Osceola and polk county, there schools are lower rated. But teaching there shouldn't be an issue. A job is a job.

I agree with GLS, Lake Nona would be the best combination of school and reasonable commute.

Go here Lake Nona for some info on lake nona. There is an interactive map you can look at. But keep in mind that some of the stuff on the map is still under construction or hasn't broke ground yet (like the town center). But either way all of that stuff will eventually be there, most of the stuff is already there or is under construction (like the medical city). The community has a very bright future.

What you've heard and what the reality are being two different things.

And if the OP didn't like Harmony she'll HATE Celebration--the epitome of "cult like."
